- This study analyzes the energy-efficient locomotion of tortoises (diagonal gait with belly-dragging) and applied it to robots, thereby improving the energy efficiency of legged robots.- Based on the hypothesis that the tortoise's locomotion could contribute to enhancing the energy efficiency of legged robots, a tortoise-inspired robot was developed to validate this.- Through dynamic simulations and real-world locomotion experiments, it was verified that the tortoise's locomotion decreases the Cost of Transport (CoT) and improves energy efficiency of the robot, even when variables such as the robot's size, mass, the friction coefficient of the plastron, and the Froude number change.- The energy-efficient locomotion strategy for robots discussed in this study holds great potential in the field of legged robots where high payloads and long operational time are crucial, such as in exploration, rescue operations, and payload transportation.- Especially, the results of this study, which improve energy efficiency through locomotion strategy, are expected to be effectively combined with other research that enhances energy efficiency through mechanical structures or control strategies.- 본 연구는 Tortoise의 에너지 효율적인 보행 방법(diagonal gait with belly-dragging)을 분석하고 로봇에 적용하여 족형 로봇(Legged robot)의 에너지 효율을 향상시킨 연구임.- Tortoise의 보행 방법이 족형 로봇의 에너지 효율 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것이라는 가설을 바탕으로, 이를 검증하고자 Tortoise 모사 로봇을 개발함.- 동역학 기반의 시뮬레이션과 실제 환경에서의 로봇 보행 실험을 통해 로봇의 크기, 질량, plastron의 마찰 계수, Froude number 등의 변수가 바뀌더라도 Tortoise의 보행 방법이 로봇의 Cost of Transport (CoT)를 감소시키고 에너지 효율을 향상시킨다는 것을 검증함.- 본 연구에서 제안한 Tortoise의 에너지 효율적인 보행 방법은 탐사나 구조 작업, 화물 운송과 같은 높은 payload와 긴 운용시간이 중요한 보행로봇 분야에서 큰 잠재력을 지니고 있음.- 특히, 보행 방법을 통해 에너지 효율을 향상시키는 본 연구의 결과는 기계 구조나 제어 전략을 통해 에너지 효율성을 향상시키는 다른 연구들과 효과적으로 결합될 수 있을 것으로 기대됨.
